Free School Meals
In England a Free School Meal (FSM) is a statutory benefit available to school-aged children from families who receive other qualifying benefits and who have been through the relevant registration process. Eligible students receive a daily allocation on their catering account of £3.80 per day (September 2023 onwards).

WKGS 16-19 Bursary
At West Kirby Grammar School we are always keen to support students who may struggle financially. We do not want their progress to suffer due to monetary constraints. Students are encouraged to apply for a bursary.
The bursary can support you with the cost of home to school travel, books, clothes, attending University open days/interviews and much more.
Please note that if eligible, you may be able to receive BOTH Free School Meals and a 16-19 Bursary.
Up Learn
We provide Sixth Form students with a subscription to the Up Learn e-learning platform. This supports our students in delivering optimal learning outcomes and achieving table-topping academic results. Up Learn helps our students to learn independently at home.
The subjects currently supported are Economics, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology and Biology. We will add more subjects, as and when, they are added to the Up Learn platform.
This saves our students up to £599.98 per subject, compared to an individual student subscription.
Laptop Loans
We offer free laptop loans to Sixth Form students that they can use in the Sixth Form and at home. There is free WiFi around school to allow students to study in a social or quiet environment of their choosing.
School & Community Fund
Parents and carers are requested to make voluntary contributions to our School & Community Fund. We ringfence 20% of the amount that you contribute for the benefit of our school community. This will provide funding to allow us to act quickly to support students, staff, parents, carers and members of our West Kirby alumni, who need support and who would otherwise have nowhere to turn to for help. This community support may take the form of Free School Meals for ineligible students, school uniform, footwear, support for household food and energy bills and other urgent needs identified by our Pastoral Team.
