West Kirby has a successful Sixth Form where students achieve outstanding results, receive excellent advice and guidance and enjoy first-class pastoral support.

Applications are welcomed from both female and male students who studied at other schools for their GCSEs. Approximately 40 -50 new students join West Kirby's Sixth Form each year and there are around 40 male students in the Sixth Form at present. New students flourish and enjoy studying at West Kirby. They are elected to be school leaders and participate fully in the wider life of the school.

We look after new students and ensure that they are well supported in their first few weeks in the school. The induction programme is an exciting and fun way to be introduced to Sixth Form life at West Kirby and a great way to make new friends.

Which courses do you offer?

WKGS is proud to offer 28 courses in the Sixth Form. This is considerably more than many schools with sixth forms. We do not prescribe option blocks in advance as these are constructed shortly after our February deadline for applications, allowing us to accommodate the vast majority of student preferences.

How many subjects can I study at WKGS?

Sixth Form students may choose to study three or four subjects in our Sixth Form. Students taking three subjects will typically complete an additional Extended Project Qualification on a topic of their choosing. More information can be found on the curriculum page.
